Welcome to UNH Ballet Workshop production of excerpts from La Bayadère. The focus of our fall workshops is to give our students the opportunity to experience the traditions of classical ballet. This year we have selected excerpts from the renowned masterpiece, La Bayadère, which is set in legendary India. La Bayadère tells the story of the doomed love between the noble warrior Solor and Nikita, a beautiful temple dancer who is murdered by her jealous rival Gamzatti. We have selected scenes from each act capturing the unique choreography of Marius Petipa including solo and group variations, a lively drum dance, and concluding with the dreamy Kingdom of the Shades. We are extremely proud of our hardworking, dedicated students that love classical ballet and have embraced this experience while balancing their studies.
